You’ve probably heard of irvingia gabonensis supplements, or african mango supplements as they are also known. They are the hottest thing on the weight loss market right now, promising as they do stunning weight loss results without diet or exercise. You may also have heard that clinical studies have been carried out which prove the effects of irvingia gabonensis supplements, as indeed they have − you can check them out in our article African Mango.

Will you get the same results with irvingia gabonensis supplements?

There is no disputing the results which basically revealed that by taking irvingia gabonensis supplements, participants lost an average of  2.8lbs a week (28.1lbs in a ten week trial, and 11.7lbs in a four week trial).

These results are amazing as I’m sure you’ll agree. What we’re going to look at in this article is whether the results are all down to irvingia gabonensis supplements, or was something else going on. If you were to take irvingia gabonensis supplements, could you expect similar results?

African mango, or the seeds thereof, which are used to make irvingia gabonensis supplements, contain high levels of fiber (14%). And while it is recognized by experts that fiber is an effective component of any weight loss program, the researchers correctly concluded that fiber alone was not the cause of the weight loss.

Analysis of the recorded data revealed favorable increases were seen in leptin levels, This is the hormone which sends the signal to our brains telling us we are full up. It is known that chronically overweight people have a resistance to leptin. So by raising leptin levels our brains are receiving the message that we are full up.

Also production of the hormone adiponcetin was increased. This results in increased fat and glucose metabolization with consequent weight loss results. Chronically overweight people have a deficiency of adiponcetin, as opposed to a deficiency as with leptin.

So far, so excellent. Why irvingia gabonensis supplements are so effective has been explained. But before you go rushing out to buy irvingia gabonensis supplements, you should be aware of some more information which may, just may, have a bearing on your decision.

Now, no one is suggesting that the research was flawed in any way, or that the results recorded were incorrect − participants did indeed lose 28.1lbs in 10 weeks. But the participants, who were all overweight by the way, were asked to record their own daily food intake and exercise levels. What this means is, that we don’t know for sure how much food people were eating, or how much exercise they were taking. They could have been eating more food than they were actually recording, in which case the results are even more astounding, or they could have been eating less, in which case the results are not so impressive, or, they could have been telling the truth. The converse applies to exercise. The only thing we know for sure, is we don’t know for sure.

Are irvingia gabonensis supplements still a good bet?

So what can we conclude from this. Are irvingia gabonensis supplements still a good bet? Another study, where food and exercise levels were strictly controlled and monitored would be preferable. But even if we assume participants were actually eating less than they recorded in the study. And if we assume you are only going to experience half the weight loss results of those in the trial, this still equates to about 1½lbs a week, which is still pretty impressive. So if you are trying to lose weight, it would appear that irvingia gabonensis supplements are certainly worth considering.
